Pathways Model for Math
The pathways model aligns the developmental math learning sequence to a career-relevant course of study, typically differentiating learning pathways for STEM and non-STEM majors. Pathways courses can vary greatly, but common characteristics include:
- Adding an emphasis on content that is needed for a particular course of study, or removing traditional algebra content that is unnecessary for certain majors.
- Increasing the relevancy of the math through applications or activities
- Strengthening conceptual learning and critical thinking skills
- Encouraging students to make connections by altering the traditional order of topics
All of the MyMathLab® solutions below offer an alternative to the traditional introductory and intermediate algebra sequence to accelerate non-STEM and/or STEM students into a credit-bearing math course.
